Lunar Finance

Introduction

In early 2025, the Lunar Finance team was formed, with me joining as the founding designer to help design and build a cross-chain platform that combined the reliability of traditional finance with the flexibility and decentralization of crypto. Having experienced firsthand how fragmented and frustrating the user experience can be across most exchanges, I had a clear understanding of the problem we needed to solve.

Role

As the Founding Designer, I was the sole design voice on a small team. I worked closely with the founder to shape the product direction and ensure the design aligned with the company’s vision. I also collaborated with the front-end developer to make sure the final implementation accurately reflected the intended experience.

The Problem

Crypto holders need a simple way to move their funds from one network to another without breaking the process into several complicated steps. At the time, most tools were primarily designed for swapping tokens within a single blockchain, leaving users to rely on separate bridges, exchanges and wallets to complete cross-chain transactions. This made the experience fragmented, time-consuming and difficult to navigate, especially for less experienced users.

Design Approach

The goal was to move fast, validate ideas quickly and get the product into users’ hands as early as possible. Rather than spending too much time on lengthy planning, I focused on three key areas: creating a strong visual direction, making the experience easy to use and optimizing the core flows to reduce unnecessary steps.
With the product requirements and initial direction in place, I moved directly into Figma, exploring layouts and interactions while continuously refining the experience with the team.

User Experience Highlights

Across the experience, I focused on reducing friction, improving visibility and helping users understand what was happening at every stage of a transaction.
The following screens highlight some of the key design decisions across swapping, bridging, token selection, route comparison and transaction tracking.

Impact

Since launch, Lunar Finance has attracted over 3,000 users and processed more than $5 million in transaction volume, with $200,000 of that volume generated in the last two months.

Future Directions

The next phase for Lunar Finance is to build a dedicated mobile app that makes the platform more accessible and supports a broader range of features. This will allow users to manage their assets and complete cross-chain transactions more conveniently, while creating room for new tools and experiences beyond the current web platform.
